Greenhouse Studies collects Philippe Weisbecker's studies of the greenhouse, an everyday structure whose plain, purpose-driven form he treats with the attention usually reserved for monuments.
About This Book
Weisbecker has long been drawn to the overlooked objects and buildings of daily life—tools, appliances, factories and public housing—things that have escaped the swings of fashion. Here he turns to the greenhouse. Built to shelter an inner world from the one outside, greenhouses have changed little over time, and their form follows directly from what they do. For Weisbecker that is the source of their enduring beauty, and this slim book invites the reader to look at them through his eyes. First published by Nieves in 2012, it returns in a second edition, printed in colour offset.
