DayTripper: Tokyo is a guide to more than 50 day trips from Tokyo, each no more than a couple of hours by train, for travellers who want to see what lies beyond the capital.

About This Book

Most visitors to Japan never get further than Tokyo, but some of the country's most rewarding places sit just past the city's edge. Michelle Mackintosh and Steve Wide map out more than 50 day trips, plus a handful of overnight and weekend escapes, all reachable by rail: small galleries and museums, shrines reached by bicycle, old walking trails between historic sites, forest onsen and ryokan stays in former post towns.

Food and drink get their due, with excursions built around regional specialities and sake brewery visits, while pop culture fans will find the Ghibli Museum, Moomin Valley Park and Ome's retro town. Maps, photography and practical tips make it a book to plan with and to carry.
