Lucid Stop, a solid glass doorstop created by Carman Skeehan and Rachel Byron, epitomises the fusion of meticulous craftsmanship and the unpredictability of the natural world. This piece is masterfully crafted at the Jam Factory in Adelaide from multiple hand gathers of molten clear silica glass, which are then sculpted into an organic shape. Impressions from found objects like bricks create unique indentations in the glass, adding a tactile quality to the smooth exterior.
Once the doorstop is removed from the kiln, it undergoes a cold working process where a precise window is cut into the solid form, revealing its clear, untroubled interior. This process showcases the material's purity and the intricate interaction between transparency and solidity. Lucid Stop encourages viewers to contemplate the harmony between natural elements and human intervention, highlighting the narrative potential of materials to transform everyday objects into collectible art forms that tell their unique stories."

Rachel Byron and Carman Skeehan merge their distinct disciplines, unique perspectives and skills to their collaborative work. Rachel, the founder of Studio ROU and brand manager at SKEEHAN Studio, has a decade of experience in design curation and creating experimental works. Carman, a glass artist trained at Adelaide's JamFactory, blends classical aesthetics with contemporary glass pieces.
