Alberto Ponis (Genoa, 1933) grew up within the orbit of significant Italian modernist designers through his father Mario Alberto Ponis, whose company MITA produced rugs, textiles, and artist's tapestries in collaboration with figures including Giò Ponti and Fortunato Depero. After graduating summa cum laude from the School of Architecture in Florence in 1960, Ponis worked in London with Ernö Goldfinger and Denys Lasdun before settling permanently in Palau, Sardinia, where he has practised ever since.
