Among Buildings a finalist in Australian Book Designers Association Awards

Among Buildings has made the ABDA 2018 Awards Longlist for ‘Best Designed Independent Book’ alongside a number of exceptionally designed books by individuals and independent publishers.

The Australian Book Designers Association Awards recognise Australian book design in a number of different categories including best designed Non-Fiction, Fiction, Children’s Books, Young Adult, Fully-illustrated book and best designed Series.

The Best Designed Independent Book category includes competition from art monographs, photography, poetry collections and personal essays. Among Buildings is a unique contender as a collection of both poetry and photography, an unfolding journey through Melbourne architecture across 26 loose-leaf sections.

Designer Stuart Geddes (who developed the book in collaboration with poet and architect, Michael Roper, and photographer, Tom Ross) has also been nominated in this category for two other titles, Broken and To Note (which recently won the Cornish Family Prize at the NGV Art Book Fair as part of Melbourne Design Week). While last year, Among Buildings was also a finalist in the 2017 AGDA Design Awards.

The shortlist for the ABDA Awards will be announced on Monday 9 April, with the overall winners to be announced Friday 25 May.
